ABOUT US

Our firm's beginnings can be traced back to at least 1919 when local solicitor Mr. Clyde Chappell opened an office in The Boulevard, Tunstall.

He practised for nearly fifty years until he retired at the age of 81 in 1967.  Clyde Chappell died aged 89 on the 25th April 1975.

The firm was formerly known as Clyde Chappell & Co until Mr. Brian Botham took over in 1967, and the name was then changed to Clyde Chappell & Botham.

The firm opened a Meir branch office in 1971, and moved to our current premises at 97/99 Weston Road in 1990.

Our managing director, Alan Whitmore, joined the firm as a trainee in 1970, and was joined by Robert Clarke in 1981.  Brian Botham retired in 1990, but remained as a consultant until he died in 2011.

Robert Clarke retired on the 31st October 2023.
